What a week one. It’s hard to draw too many hard conclusions from just one week of football, but there are some clear winners and losers. You guys know I read PFT a lot, so naturally I start with their Week 2 picks.

Some really good games jump out at me initially.

Jaguars at Jets – this one should be a solid beatdown. The Jets almost got embarrassed – SHOULD have been embarrassed by the Cowboys last week. The Jags are without a bunch of notable starters on both sides of the ball, and look to get pounded by the Jets. The spread on this is 9 which is a lot but I would still give it a go.

Bears at Saints – The Saints lost last week but put up impressive numbers, and a loss to the Champs in week one is nothing to be ashamed of. The Bears on the other hand gave a solid beatdown to “super bowl contenders” the Atlanta Falcons. I bought a half point and took the Bears +7. I feel like their defense will clamp down on DB & Co, and Cutler was surprisingly effective in their first game.

Baltimore at Tennessee – It’s really hard to like a team with HasselNuts at QB. The Ravens looked so good last week in their thorough beating of the Steelers (THE STEELERS!!@!#@!) I had to run with them at -5 1/2.

Philadelphia at Atlanta – The line on this game is -2 1/2. I know Atlanta has to win and they are desperate and all that. Blah blah fucking blah. I think Vick is going to stick the dagger in on this one. He was barely getting warmed up last week!

Anywho, those are my picks. What are YOU betting on?

The line is super close on this one. I like the Jets.

Update: WIN.

Who’s betting preseason? Me, that’s who. I’m such a sicko I can’t even wait until the games mean something to start betting. I have broken even so far throughout the preseason, with some horrible picks (Detroit crushes the Patriots? wack.) but some good ones along the way. I like the Saints tonight, because I just have no faith in the Raiders offense or defense. Or special teams.

Update: Win. By 20.

Took all my early Sunday picks and made an epic parlay. $100 to win $51,330.94 :)

The Texans suffered some key injuries on defense against the Ravens last week, and even though they should have won that game I have to like the Titans in this one. Jeff Fisher just too good, the Texans just too inconsistent and wishy washy.

Took the Titans at home in a pickem.

UPDATE: Win. Titans 31-17

Can’t believe the Ravens are favored in this one after being bailed out of giving away MNF last week. The Saints are on a roll, and with Reggie back look poised to make a run on the Bowl again this year.

Took the +110 money line on the defending world champion Saints.

UPDATE: Loss, Ravens win it late with a pick.. is this a theme? Baltimore wins 30-24

Man did Jason Garrett pay off Shanahan or what??? How do you bench McNabb? Cut McNabb? For REX GROSSMAN??? Just to “see what we have at the QB position?” Well, you had a pro bowler. Now you have not so sexy rexy.

No brainer, I took the Cowboys -7.

UPDATE: Sexy Rexy came to play, Loss on the points but Cowboys held on to win 33-30.

Man I want to root for the Lions so bad. They are so close to being good, if Stafford could have stayed healthy I liked them as a sleeper pick to win the NFC North.

Unfortunately, Stafford is on IR and Drew Stanton is starting for the Lions. The Bucs have been surprising people all year with a stout running game and tough D, and Josh Freeman is looking like the real deal.

Bucs are giving up some points but I took them regardless.

UPDATE: Loss. Lions win by 3 in overtime.

Man Colts are giving up 4.5 points at home to the team that beat em pretty good last meeting, not to mention the team that is leading their division. The Jags are moving the ball well and playing solid defense, Peyton has yet to show he can muster some wins without D Clark, and three little words: Maurice. Jones. Drew.

I like the Jags straight up, but take the points to be safe.

UPDATE: Loss, Colts won 34-24

Vick and the Eagles struggled against this Giants D last time, and won on a couple fluke Shady McCoy runs. For some reason, I like Andy Ried figuring this one out against Old Man Winter Coughlin.

Look for Vick to lock up the NFC East, took the Eagles straight up.

UPDATE: Win, Vick shocks the world in the 4th quarter to win 38-31
